30 Designers 1 Question – Where are you most inspired?
I was asked to participate in the “30 Designers 1 Question – Where are you most inspired?” series on Gavin Elliot’s blog. To see my answer and the other 29 great designers head over and check it out! Good reading for a Friday!

In the shower, right before you go to sleep! thats so true! haha
You’re right Brigham, designers are often most inspired in the oddest situations – when they are in nature, on vacation, exercising, making music, etc. This can make it difficult to translate designs from the mind of the designer to a piece of paper or to Photoshop. Designers from big firms are often forced to design in the confines of a cubicle or small office, an environment that can be completely uninspiring. Designers need to be free to design whenever and wherever inspiration strikes them.
Definitely in the shower, gives you that moment to shut your eyes block everything out and just picture what it is you want to see. Also a great place to work out how to deal with difficult clients. Unfortunately you can’t be ducking off to the shower every time you need inspiration.
Is it ok I never had one good idea in the shower…? (Well, I know, nobody asked me…)
Hey Guys,
Adelle, thanks for the include and hope the post was a good one to read.
@brigham – Bathrooms are totally underrated, my bathroom is an inspirational supernova.
@Media Contour – You’re dead right, it’s highly unfortunate that at big firms, designers are confined to small spaces with a lot of pressure. Whilst the experience can teach you a few things I believe the constraints and pressure can only lessen the creative instinct of a designer.
@Matt Smith – I also believe it’s just one of those places where you can just get away and deal with what you need to. Showers rock!
Take Care
Gavin
When I lay in the bed trying to sleep, and allso in the shower as many say! :P
