Mark Boulton has announced Gridset, a tool for making incredibly custom grids. Instead of grabbing a framework and choosing between 12, 16 or 24 columns, Gridset will allow you to create grids that are “columnar, asymmetrical, ratio, compound, fixed, fluid, responsive and more.” The idea behind Gridset, according to Boulton, is that grids with a fixed number of columns are inappropriate for the age of responsive web design, and that frameworks are clunky solutions.

Gridset promises to provide the ideal grid for each web project — and if you resize your browser window at the Gridset site, you’ll find a level of granularity scarcely seen in most responsive designs. Associated Press Gets Rebranded

The venerable AP has received its first rebrand since 1981, branding blog Brand New reports. The new logo gives the AP a much more modern vibe, but more importantly an authoritative one, with a red underscore reinforcing that the Associated Press is about strict editorial integrity and accuracy, according to the case study written by the agency responsible, Objective Subject.
