Free New Twitter PSD Background Template
New Twitter is out now for most all users and we’ve seen the complaint of your BG designs being borked. We had great success with our Free PSD Twitter background template. Good news we’ve kept it simple like the last so, it’s efficient and easy to use.
Note:
Twitter aligns all backgrounds to the left.
Make note of this when designing your background. Also, you can put elements to the far right but be aware that some users will not see them depending on what monitor/resolution they are running. I included the “twitter container” (logo and space where your tweets are housed) it is actual size. So you can move it into different resolutions to keep in mind what other users will see.

Thank you for your template. Please can you clear something up for me? I’ve been searching for New Twitter background posts and found surprisingly few. The most popular is on Mashable: http://mashable.com/2010/10/06 /new-twitter-background-custom ize/
The general advice is that people with screen resolutions of 1024px or less will only see 41px on the left. Other bloggers say the minimum width on the left is 112px. I haven’t found official measurements from Twitter.
I’m redesigning backgrounds for my clients. I’d like to get it right …how did you arrive at the measurements you use? Is Mashable giving readers the wrong advice?

Obviously no one above me has actually used the template yet. Whilst it is a great template layout it should be noted that the right hand panel SCALES in width between 380px wide and 500px wide depending on the width of the browser window.
This means that whilst your template shows a combined width of 1040px for the Twitter panel, when you view the page at a screen resolution of only 1024×768 the twitter combined panel width is in fact only 920px.
Please make mention of this above as it is crucial to making designs work as the browser changes resolution.
God I’m too lazy to change my old background plus I still like the older version more I don’t know why…

I have noticed that you only need the thin (new layout) for when the user is signed in to twitter. Otherwise, somebody browsing your profile that does’t have an account can clearly see your background even if your using the old twitter layout which is much wider.

My gratitude to you and fuelyourcreativity as well, been wanting to create a custom tweeter background for quite a while and this is just the right incentive that i needed for a long time to start working on having a custom profile that i work on not just take it all ready from somewhere.

I mean what did he really do that all you “so called designers couldn’t”. Big deal he mocked up a Twitter bg. Take a screenshot of twitter and you could build this same thing in secs.
