Free PSD Twitter Background Template
Well I have had tons of people ask how I design my twitter backgrounds and get everything to look right. So, instead of telling everyone- I took 5 minutes and made a twitter template. Inside of the template I made guides that match up with different resolutions.
Note:
Twitter aligns all backgrounds to the left.
Make note of this when designing your background. Also, you can put elements to the far right but be aware that some users will not see them depending on what monitor/resolution they are running. I included the “twitter container” (logo and space where your tweets are housed) it is actual size. So you can move it into different resolutions to keep in mind what other users will see.

A million thanks for this. Today was actually the first time I’ve had a client request an Twitter design and I saw this in my RSS feed. This should definitely come in handy.
I’ve created my twitter backgrounds for a while now, and never ealised that twitter always aligned to left, that could of saved me some time, i’ve recntly moed to a mc with a much larger resolution so have to re design my twitter pages now :p

HELP! The file will not download. If I curl it, I get a garbage file.
This is great. Thank you. One question, what fonts did you use? I got a warning saying there were fonts missing.
I think its just helvetica or helvetica neue. Nothing to fancy, its not a big deal if you have to substitute it. (I thought I rasterized the layers? Maybe not.)
I get a font warning as well. Like you said, not a big deal, but just so you know.

I prefer for 1600×1200 with outreach of around 1024×765 for twitter (perfect for most of the resolutions) !

Thanks for the template. I’m wondering why the resolution is 300 dpi, though?
I design everything in 300 DPI just in case. I have had to recreate things because they are needed for a print ad or something. I always design high res then scale back.
Absolutely the best info I’ve found on this. Of course, one would hope twitter moves the graphic to top center and solves much of the dilemma. Thanks.
I agree. If they would make the entire image centered it would be all over & simple for people to update/design.

Twitter was reducing the size of my background when I uploaded, so I had to reduce the size. 1900×1200 was the maximum it would accept before resizing it.
Also, no point having the PSD at 300dpi imo.

It probably could be kicked own to 150DPI but, I usually design everything @ 300DPI just to be safe {except webdesigns} (in case something has to be scaled into a print ad or something later) I’ve had to recreate to many things that were out of the orginial scope so I guess its an old habit :) Glad the template worked for you.
