Mercedes Benz – Left Brain vs. Right Brain Advertising
The Mercedes-Benz. They’re sleek, stylish and sometimes glitzy and powerful. Their recent TV campaigns show big, boastful sedans, ripping donuts around their “legal” team in the middle of the sand. Their print campaign, is a touch different. It draws on emotional ties between the left and right brain. The beautiful illustrated spreads show creativity, free spirit and passion of the right brain vs. the familiar, accurate and linear. The campaign, is beautiful, articulate and creative. The copy is carefully crafted and works with each illustration. The campaign was created by Shalmor Avnon Amichay/Y&R Interactive Tel Aviv, Israel and is on adsoftheworld.com

But, all of this aside… The campaign is super creative, well created and technically sound. But, the problem that I keep reeling over is “is this Mercedes-Benz”?

this actually the original image. created i think way back in 2006. The original artist has tried to contact Mercedes-Benz about copyright issues but hasn’t received a conclusive response yet. Sad. another idea stolen i guess
It’s a very engaging image, very creative but then I don’t feel it’s a car ad though. After I look to those images, i’m asking myself, so is Mercedes Benz a right or left brainer? Or do we pick Mercedes Benz using our left or right brain? Or Mercedes Benz fulfilled our left or right brain?

The way I precieve it is they are helping you through the decision process of owning a Mercedes Benz.
To elaborate: These ads are describing the functions & processes of each side of the brain. By properly wording the text in the AD, they are relating many thought processes to the benefits of owning a Mercedes Benz.
Intrigued by the Ad? Both sides of your brain have been covered, so… Mercedes Benz: “It’s a no brainer”

Not really. This wasn’t created for Mercedes-Benz. This was a “re-used” art that was created way back in 2006.

Very similar. And both are different takes on the same left/right brain angle that Jaguar uses in its recent campaign. I can’t find a link, but it cites some ratings where the Jaguar is ahead of Mercedes and BMW and says buying a Jaguar is both a logical and emotional one.

Beautiful. Also represents a wonderful social contrast that we deal with within ourselves and externally – left brain vs. right brain values. Where do they collide?

Not bad, but I think it doesn’t look like great Mercedes Benz add (its my personal opinion), it could be better than this.
Finally…. someone knows what my brain looks like inside! Mine is the one with the colorful paint! Great ads!!

When I have the time I’m going to have to get a copy and try to squeeze it into a wallpaper for my iPad 2.
I love the cleverness of the ad…the comparison, but it’s not complete. MB should have adopted another tagline: “the best or nothing?” I don’t feel it relates with the art/imagery of the ad. The message should be stronger that which ever you are, right or left brain, a MB is for you…MB=Your Best Direction.

These are gorgeous images, and nice copyrighting, but I get the sense it was conceived by the ad agency before a client ever walked through the door, they just had to sell someone on the idea. That said, I’d love a print of the painting one.
These images are full of creativity, may be designed by Right Brain :). But I think that the creator this image didn’t do just with Left Brain. Being Analytical doesn’t mean that they are dry and Black & White.
Perhaps you need to realize the beauty of black and white as well (but I guess that’s not what a left-brain instinct would find instantly appealing.)
