most of these designs look cool but seem to lack strutural integrity, isupose if you ride on a smooth flat surface and go straight you might be ok

Sorry Chad, English isn´t my first language. A couple of things: each one of these bikes is just a creation looking for a mind openning, and not as a way to to fall into a nonsense debate, comparing them with any other kind of bikes, i.e. cargo or mountain bikes.
They are thinked for another function, wich doesn´t means a demerit at all.
The futur of bikes seems to be a point not clearly understood by some people. I think it´s a matter of needless: if you need a cargo bike, buy a cargo bike, that’s fine, but if you wanna a bike to ride 100 miles I´m sure you´ll get a router one.
The problem of cost of course is a big problem, if we think in short terms of producing. But, when graphite reeels and roads appeared, we only was able to dream with this new stuff..
Concept bikes are an exaltation of both mind and handwork capabilities, where all progress comes from.
And, who can say they are not useful to simply take a ride?

This reminds me of my kid’s 5th grade art class. All the boys are airplane designers, same level of function and practicality as these bikes. How about let’s stick to working prototypes and skip right over the kid’s art.

All very pretty to look at, but aside from the Peugeot they look unwieldy and seriously lacking in structural integrity, makes you wonder if the designers have ever even ridden a bike…

Interesting concepts I must say, and great to see creative designers coming up with some new designs. Although I must point out some of these designs shown are way out of date (ie those hubless wheel designs came out nearly 20 years ago and there were some pretty neat concepts shown way back then, and the ‘black hole’ wheel even went into production for a while), and even check out the race bikes that I produce at http://www.pearsonbikes.com , which are quite similar (and I think much better looking) than Lewis Rowe’s concept bike you have shown here. I’m not sure also if the drive to the hubless rear wheel would actually work or be efficient in reality.
