The first thing a user sees when they’re browsing for apps is the icon. The icon is essentially important to the app’s marketing efforts, and also to its inclusion on the home page of a user’s phone; I, for one, simply refuse to have anything on my iPhone that is poorly designed or not Retina-ready.
