The work of librarian requires to integrate huge knowledge: it’s like an encyclopedist. But the most efficient tool for modern librarian is software knowledge system that allows to check really complicated informational architecture of books, journals, databases, multimedia and online resources. That’s why I am going for the MD. Design and art is a hobby. Do something useful with your life people, get a grown up hobby… You’re like a cross between a… decorator and a janitor. Yeah, to be a librarian you need a master’s degree. It’s very research-intensive. As a graphic designer who looked into becoming one but didn’t have time for 3 additional years of college (on top of my BFA), I just had to point that out ;)

Flight attendant, bartender, waiter/waitress, etc. … all slaves to the client just like a graphic designer to a certain extent. How about blogging from a beach in Hawaii? Now that sounds like a job a burned out designer could handle.

Librarian actually doesn’t seem to bad, besides, I’m always up for the mandatory set of sexy glasses that comes with the job ;)
Interesting though, sometimes you have to think about the the end in order to be inspired for a new beginning..

Wonderful post! Very interesting perspective on things!
I love thinking outside the box like that and having those moments of inspiration simply by observing the bigger picture of the world around us.
