I think that a lot of people use Illustrator for web banner design because they’ve previously used it for print ad design.

Plus, if one wants to get picky, that’s what Illustrator is really for and Photoshop is to edit PHOTOS, thus the name. :)

I realize that many, myself included, do use Photoshop for banner ad design, but that’s not really what it was designed for and it is was Illustrator was built to do.

Some people use it so I included it. I like you use photshop & think its the easiest. Others are more comfortable with illustrator, I think its just personal preference and what you are most comfortable with.

I’ve been doing web work for over 10 years. I don’t understand why anyone would use Illustrator for web banner design. Would love to hear the thought process or advantages there.

The lack of useful information on Ad banners always astounds me given their prevalence on the web. As an example, email marketing information is abundant… “How to get people to read your email.” It almost seems equally important from a marketing standpoint to have similar information for banners.
